Patients for Patient Safety Canada

The PFPSC’s mission is to lead, advocate, and contribute to awareness, knowledge and active participation in patient safety efforts. Global Patient Safety Action Plan

The seventy-second World Health Assembly in 2019 adopted a resolution calling for global action on patient safety and mandated for development of a global patient safety action plan. This global action plan was adopted by the seventy-fourth World Health Assembly in 2021 with a vision of “a world in which no one is harmed in health care, and every patient receives safe and respectful care, every time, everywhere”.

According to the World Health Organization, “No one should be harmed in health care; however, there is compelling evidence of a huge burden of avoidable patient harm globally across the developed and developing health care systems. This has major human, moral, ethical and financial implications.”

Patient Safety “the hub”

Patient Safety Learning’s “the hub” is an award-winning platform to share learning for patient safety. Based in the U.K., it is the world's largest knowledge depository on patient safety and offers a powerful combination of tools, resources, stories, ideas, case studies and good practice to anyone who wants to make care safer for patients. Its communities of interest give people a place to discuss patient safety concerns and how to address them. Membership is free.

Envisioned as an organization bringing together hospitals to improve the practice of medicine. Today, HCA Healthcare cares for patients across 190 hospitals and approximately 2,400 ambulatory sites of care in 20 U.S. states and the United Kingdom. As a learning health system, HCA Healthcare analyzes data from approximately 44 million patient encounters each year and uses this data to develop technologies and best practices that help improve patient care. They also share their findings with the larger healthcare community and government agencies to help improve care everywhere.
